Feature Request: Auto Session -> Connect Local Shell

Hello VanDyke,

I know this can be achieved by creating a session for localhost on a Mac, but it would be nice to have a fourth option on the "Auto Session" to open a local shell.

I have added this thread to a feature request in our product enhancement database for the ability to add a local shell session as an auto session. Should a future release of SecureCRT include this feature, notification will be posted here.

I'm not sure what you mean by "creating a session for localhost". It sounds like you are creating a ssh session to localhost in order to get a terminal. That works, but there is a better way.

When you create a session, one of the connection type options is "Local shell". In my case, I created a session named "Shell" with the connection type of "Local shell". I then went to the general preferences and set the "Shell" session as the default automatic session.

This local shell is wonderful, I just noticed that option, because I failed the xserver, seems like the sftp to the local terminal won't support that. I suggest if the remote sftp is actually the ip address like 127.0.01 or the lcoal machine in other manner, the SecureCRT can make automatically choose the local shell in case of failure of the xServer connection.

Thanks for the post. A local shell is much different than SFTP.
