I just tried the new preview version for about 5 minutes and from what I can tell so far the issue is completely resolved. I'll write a bit more after testing it more thoroughly for a day or two.
Thank you very much. |

So after some more testing I found only one very minor difference in behaviour (fewer empty lines inserted when some text editors clear the screen) and I consider that to be an improvement. So great fix all around. I assume it'll be in version 8.8? Is it safe to continue using the preview until that's released?

Hi SET,
I am glad to hear that the implemented fix has improved your experience! Can you tell me more about the difference in behavior that you noticed? What text editors did you test with? Would it be possible for you to provide a screenshot or two that depict the discrepancy? As for your question about the 8.8.0 build that you are testing, the fix will be included in 8.8.x (subject to change). I provided your email to the SecureCRT product director for alpha testing, that way you can test the next alpha version. Your pre-release version is safe to continue using, however it will eventually expire. If that happens and we haven't yet released an alpha version for testing, just send an email to support@vandyke.com to let us know that your 8.8.0 build is going to expire.

Never mind, I compared it to the old version and can't reproduce the behaviour. Maybe there was an update on the server changing how the screen clear worked? In any case, as far as I can tell the new option makes the SecureCRT preview version perform 100% identical to the previous versions.

Hi SET,
I am glad to hear that the issue seems to be a one-off. Please let us know if you experience any notable changes in behavior moving forward! Have a great day! ![]()

Hello,
Just wanted to post a quick update related to this bug. The fix has been ported to our most recent build of 8.7.2 and will be included in the next official release.

Just checking in - does the Aug 8.7.3 release include the provision for 'alternate screen output added to scrollback'? I didn't see it in the release notes.

That was an oversight. This note was inadvertently omitted:
Added a session INI-file-only option "Alternate Screen Output Added To Scrollback" which allows alternate screen (e.g., tmux) output to be put in the scrollback buffer. Maureen |
