Smile Need to move VSHELL installation

My boss installed VSHELL several years ago on a server that is being replaced. I need to move the VSHELL installation to the new server. My boss doesn't have the registration letter with the license key for our copy of VSHELL. I can see the serial number in the 'about' screen, but not the license key.

How can I go about recovering the license key for VSHELL so I can reinstall this application on a replacement server?

mtf

Hello mtf,

Please send an e-mail to orders@vandyke.com or call (505) 332-5710.

Once you have provided the serial number, the orders department will be able to help you with the license issue.

need to swap installations

It looks like we're going to put an older version of VSHELL on a server that has a newer version installed. The older version is licensed for 10 concurrent connections while the newer version is only licensed for 2.

If I uninstall the new version and then install the older version, how do I import all the settings from the newer version? Primarily, I'm worried about the encryption key, user settings, etc.

Is there a config file I can copy the settings from so that I can just drop those settings into the older version I want to install?

thanks,

mtf

Hello mtf,

The amount of connections allowed is not due to the version of VShell installed. That is set by the license that is applied to the VShell installation.

I don't want to speak as to exporting the config until I know the exact version(s) of VShell installed.

Please send an e-mail with your VShell version(s) and serial number(s) to support@vandyke.com so we can advise you as to the upgrade eligibility of these licenses.

Please include "Attn Brenda - Forum Thread #8804" in the subject line.

An email has been sent to Support with our version and licensing information for both software installations.
