External hard drives

Hello,

the topic may sound ridiculous, but i am astonished myself:
Each time i change from SecureCRT with an open ssh session to a remote host to another window and some time later back to SecureCRT, the external hard drives start spinning up - and SecureCRT is hanging.

I have never saved anything from within SecureCRT to an external drive, so i absolutely see no reason and of course, for power consumption as well as for longevity and efficiency of workflow, this is not really optimal behavior.

Can you investigate and fix if needed? Thankyou.

Hello cduerr,

What version of SecureCRT are you using (SecureCRT menu / About SecureCRT)?

What version of Mac OS is installed?

When the issue occurs, have you checked all possible locations in all active sessions that might include a path that points to an external drive?

In Global Options:
  • General
  • Terminal / Advanced
  • SSH2
  • SSH Host Keys

In Session Options:
  • Connection / Logon Actions
  • Connection / SSH2 / SFTP Tab
  • Terminal / Emulation
  • Terminal / Log File
  • Terminal / X/Y/Zmodem

Hello Brenda,

it's SecureCRT 6.7.3 (Build 292).
It's Lion 10.7.2.

I have checked all locations you mention and could not find a reference to any external drive. All point to the local user profile directory instead.

Cheers,

Christian

Hi Christian,

Thanks for the information.

Would you run the following command?
sudo dtruss /Applications/SecureCRT.app/Contents/MacOS/SecureCRT
Could you then save the output to a file, attach to e-mail and send to support@vandyke.com?

Please reference "Attn Brenda - Forum Thread #10155" in the subject line.
