Cool Backup PIX via SSH instead of telnet

Seems that flipping from telnet to SSH wasn't quite totally straightforward on the connect string. In addition my network engineer requested that we keep our PIX passwords separate from the switch passwords. My current employer isn't running TACACS+ yet so this is done without it.

Basically a derivation of the older MHCL (Multi-Host Copy Log) code from last year this one was cut down to just do PIX firewalls assuming all on the same password but using SSH for the connection.

Still uses TFTP for the transport as before but the data file names all changed so it can co-exist with MHCL. If you're running MHCL just blank out the PIXhosts.txt file and go with this new one and you won't need to change MHCL since it will just skip over.

Hi vzxdyy,

While this is not a script that we created, we may be able to help resolve specific errors.

What version of SecureCRT are you using?

What error message are you receiving?

What line number is the script failing on?

Thanks adeshotel for these scripts.

So far, the Telnet one works fine for IOS hosts and I am working on the PIX SSH one now.

The only thing I had to change was the directories in the scripts since we run version 6.5.0 of SecureCRT.

My question to you is, what about SSH to IOS devices? We have to be PCI compliant and are forced to turn off Telnet.

I need something like this to work with SSH for
IOS Devices
PIX
ASA in multi-context mode.

Is there anything available that would work for this as well?

Thanks again,
-Steve

Hello ryderse,

It looks like adeshotel posted a script named MHCL-PIXSecure.vbs to this forum thread, and it has an example showing how to use SSH1. SSH2 would look the same. It has been a few years since he posted to our forums so I thought maybe I could try to help you see how to write the code you need.

Can you post the code you have, or the code you want to modify?

Did you have a specific question about SSH to IOS devices?
