Feature Suggestion: Note Keeper

I use a small note taking plug in for firefox and find it to be quite helpful. A lot of the time, the notes are related to things that I do on switches or routers. As such, I need to pop out of Secure CRT into Firefox, locate the note and copy it to my clipboard.

It would be helpful, in my opinion, to have a similar option in Secure CRT. Just something simple like a button that opens a place to maintain small notes. These can be config snippets; instructions on tasks that you don't do often, but are a pain to google each time, etc.

I have added this thread to a feature request in our product enhancement database for the ability to open a blank window or tab which can be used as a text scratchpad or notepad. Should a future release of SecureCRT include this feature, notification will be posted here.

I'm happy to report that our developers have now implemented support for this feature in SecureCRT v9.0 beta 1:

New Features:

• Windows: Added a scratchpad, which has basic editing capabilities, allowing notes to be taken in a tab (or tile).

It is available presently only for Windows platform. The beta 1 installers for Windows only are available on our website here.

slouw, It seems you may have missed seeing Brenda's informational posting from 29 Sep, 2020. If you already saw it, then I'll explain further...

• When Brenda writes, "I'm happy to report that our developers have now implemented support for this feature in SecureCRT v9.0 beta 1", it means that the scratchpad feature has been implemented and is publicly available for the very first time in version 9.0, beta 1.
  
  
• The scratchpad feature is not available in any earlier versions, like the 8.0.3 version you're running.
  
  
• If you want to find the scratchpad feature, you'll need to install version 9.0 beta 1 or later.
  
  
  • If version 9.0 is still in its beta cycle, you'll find the download of the 9.0 or newer installer here:
