Controlling transfer speed in SFX

Hi Forum.

Just one quick question.

Is there some setting or feature in SecureFX that allows for the setting of a maximum transfer speed?

I would ideally like to set a maximum transfer speed somehow, so that the transfer can continue in the background but not take up too much network bandwidth.

I regularly need to transfer large files, but without any throttling of the speed, I quickly get into a situation where everybody on the network can be affected by a single large file transfer and then the network administrators mysteriously appear

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Might not be able to answer too soon as I'm transferring a big file and am in hiding so the Admins don't find me

Regards,
Casman.

Hello Casman,

There's not currently a method provided by SecureFX to throttle the transfer speed. However, I've added your post to our product enhancement request database so that we can consider implementing this in a future release. If implemented we'll post a follow up message here. For e-mail notification please let us know and refer to forum thread 4521.

That would be nice. I mentioned it just about 3 years ago,

but it hasn't happened yet.

Maybe we need more people to request this.

Hi PWSowner,

The number of requests we receive is one of the factors that helps determine whether or not we implement a feature. We'd like to hear from everyone interested in seeing this feature implemented. Notifying us via e-mail or here is ideal so that we can also send personal notification if this is implemented and make sure it meets your expectations before we offer the feature in a beta or official release. Thank you!

The ability to limit (throttle) the amount of bandwidth used by file transfers has been implemented in a pre-beta version of SecureFX. If you would like to try it, please send e-mail to me at Maureen.Jett@vandyke.com.
