Desktop Link/Icon for Specific SecureCRT Session

Hi VDSForums, I'm using SecureCRT 7.1.3 Windows (yes, a little old!), and I was wondering if there is a way to create a Windows desktop shortcut/link/icon for a specific SecCRT session that when clicked would open SecCRT to that session, without having to first open SecCRT then selecting/opening a session? Thank you!

Hi bbithead,

There is! You can get this behavior using a couple of different methods.

The first method would be to modify your SecureCRT shortcut. The /S option allows you to specify a session or sessions to auto start. Right click on your shortcut and choose Properties. The contents of your Target field should look something like:

"C:\Program Files\VanDyke Software\SecureCRT\SecureCRT.exe"
You can add /S <session name> to the end to have it auto connect to a session.

"C:\Program Files\VanDyke Software\SecureCRT\SecureCRT.exe" /S <session1> /S <session2>
This would allow you to auto connect to the specified sessions/s when this particular shortcut is used. If you would like to specify a session or sessions to start regardless of how SecureCRT of launched you could use the Auto session feature. From inside SecureCRT navigate to Options > Global Options > Default Session and enable the Use auto session option. You can then use the Add... button to select the session/s you would like to auto start.

Do these options give you the desired behavior?
