Can't get back to the 'save password' option
Hi.
I've been using CRT/SecureCRT since 2003. I now have SecureCRT 6.1.1. build 383. One of my clients has a strict time limit on passwords (this is SSH1), so when it needed to be changed, I clicked on the Unsave password in the session options, then launched the saved version. It asked me for the password, but, it no longer offers the option to Save the entered password, and the Password button is grayed out and can't be used. ![]() Major pain as I clone 3 sessions to this client - and I have to re-enter the same password 3 times. Sup with this?

Hi Patubb,
I just had a couple of questions. Does this happen with all SSH1 sessions? Did this work with a previous version of SecureCRT? Are there any registry keys for older versions of SecureCRT? These keys would be: HKLM\Software\Van Dyke Technologies HKCU\Software\Van Dyke Technologies Could you send me the 'Global.ini', 'SSH2.ini' and 'SSH1.ini' files? These files are located in the main configuration folder for SecureCRT. The location of the configuration folder is specified in the 'Configuration folder' data field in the 'General' category of the 'Global Options'. Just send the files to support@vandyke.com and use a subject of 'ATTN: Teresa Forum Thread 3257'.

Here's my responses
re: Does this happen with all SSH1 sessions?
Haven't tried it on another session yet. re: Did this work with a previous version of SecureCRT? Yes, under 5.x at least. re: Are there any registry keys for older versions of SecureCRT? No - just under Van Dyke w/o the Technologies part. re: Could you send me the 'Global.ini', 'SSH2.ini' and 'SSH1.ini' files? Yep - be there in a few. Thanks.

Hello Pat.
If you look in the following registry key and subkeys, are you able to find a dword called "Save Password"? HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VanDyke Do you use Password authentication or Keyboard Interactive authentication? Would you be able to provide Trace Options output from your connection? To get Trace Options output, click on File and choose Trace Options. You can click on File again to make sure there is a check mark next to Trace Options. The output should appear in the SecureCRT window. Since the Trace information may include information that you wouldn't want to post to a public forum, you can send that via e-mail to support@VanDyke.com referencing this forum thread. Thank you JJH |
