High CPU, Unresponsive, and Beachball, with Search
Hi,
When I search for a term in a SecureCRT tab (Command F), sometimes it takes several minutes (like 3 minutes or so) when I'll have a high CPU, mouse beachballing, and secureCRT unresponsive. How do I fix this? It's very painful. Version 8.7.3 (build 2279) Last edited by mfatty; 01-29-2021 at 03:58 PM. Reason: added image |

Hi mfatty,
What version of SecureCRT are you running? On what specific macOS? Please note that Big Sur is not supported in any version of SecureCRT at this time. If that is the OS, please let us know if Intel or ARM/M1 so I can add this thread to the feature request to support Big Sur. When you perform the search(es), how many sessions are open? What is the number of lines configured for scrollback buffer in each? (And how much output is presently in the scrollback if you are searching up?) Is color keyword highlighting enabled?

Hi bgagnon, see answers inline below in quotes.
Btw, SecureCRT remained frozen for over 20 minutes. I don't care how much scroll-back buffer I configured or how many lines are currently in that window. CPU Util of around 100% for over 20 mins to search for a keyword in on window is ridiculous. Quote:

Hi mfatty,
We will need to get a process dump when SecureCRT is unresponsive. Please send an email to support@vandyke.com and reference Attn Brenda - Forum Thread #14409.
