Debian aptitude and mouse issue
I am running SecureCRT 8.7.2 on Windows 10.
I work on Debian systems quite often, and I have noticed that if I an running aptitude and click the mouse aptitude will select almost all packages for deletion. The mouse doesn't do this in putty, so I believe it is a SecureCRT oddity. Anyone else see this by chance and know of a fix? |

Hi drwtsn32,
Can you please provide a specific set of steps to replicate the behavior that you are seeing?

Sure, it's pretty simple. Run the 'aptitude' command. Here is what my system looks like when it first appears:
Click the mouse on the Actions menu and suddenly many packages are marked for deletion: That should not happen. At this point if you're not careful it is easy to foul up your package selection list. This is what happened to me on a system and it took quite a bit of effort to recover. Last edited by berdmann; 07-31-2020 at 11:28 AM. Reason: Added screenshots in-line |

Hi drwtsn32.
I edited your original post so that the images can be seen in-line. For future reference please refer to forum post linked below for steps to include and embed images in a forum posting: https://forums.vandyke.com/showthread.php?t=14212What terminal emulation are you using? What version of Debian are you running Aptitude on? What kind of mouse are you using? Do you only click the mouse one time? Or is it a double-click action that results in marking the packages for deletion?

Thank you for editing, I first tried inline images but they weren't displaying properly for some reason.
Emulation is set to Xterm. Debian version is testing (bullseye). Aptitude version is 0.8.13-1+b1 Mouse is a standard USB mouse on Windows 10 (no special software/drivers). I am just single clicking, not double clicking. |
