Hi g114112118s,

What is the current version of SecureCRT you are using?

On what platform?

By "send text to terminal" are you talking about dragging a file into the active SecureCRT terminal window?

In SecureCRT for Windows 7.0, I am able to drag a file to the active terminal window. A menu is displayed (Send ASCII..., Send Binary..., Send Xmodem..., Send Ymodem..., Send Zmodem...), I select Send ASCII and the file is processed as expected.

Hi g114112118s,

My tests were on the same platform, using the same version.

Do you get an error message?

Or it just does not work?

just click on help menu and try to see if there is any update available. currently about menu says - Version 7.0.0 (x64 build 318) - Beta Release - June 19, 2012. and it finds and update as Date: July 3, 2012. when download this updates. and tried to install, it ask for the modify/repair/uninstall options. on repair, it still finds the upgrade and about menu stats Beta Release - June 19, 2012.

btw, there is no any error, when i move the cry area, mouse curser simple change to round forbidden icon.

Hello g114112118s,

Is it possible SecureCRT was open when you attempted the upgrade?

The suggested course of action would be to make sure all instances of SecureCRT are closed and then attempt the upgrade again. If it still fails with no error, you might try removing SecureCRT via the Programs and Features control panel available in Windows 7 and then install the official version of SecureCRT again.

Hello g114112118s,

What is the filename of the installer you are using?

Where did you download the installer from?

I cannot find a download account under the only e-mail address available to me. Would you send an e-mail, including the e-mail address you used to register for a VanDyke Software download account, to support@vandyke.com and include "Attn Brenda - Forum Thread #10576" in the subject line?

Hi g114112118s,

Thanks for the additional information.

I received your e-mail and provided instructions there for using Process Monitor to filter SecureCRT events so we might determine what is happening when you launch SecureCRT.

Hi all,

Regarding the original posted issue of drag and drop to SecureCRT's terminal window not working:
It was discovered the customer had enabled the Run this program as an administrator option in the Compatibility tab of SecureCRT's Properties dialog.

So the behavior was due to UAC on Windows. It prevents a program (such as Explorer) that is run with normal rights from sending a message to a program run with an elevated privilege level (SecureCRT).

With regards to the failed upgrade issue:
The customer uninstalled the beta 4 version of SecureCRT 7.0 and installed the official version and this was successful.
