Feature request SecureFX

How about some sort of tabs support in SecureFX? When connected to several ftp servers the windows is a big mess.
Will there ever be support for SSL in SecureFX?

Regards

Thanks for the requests. Sorry for the slow response.

We have had a number of requests for FTP over SSL support in SecureFX. Although it won't be implemented in 3.0, it is under consideration for a future version of SecureFX. I have added your request to the list.

We have had requests for complete integration between SecureFX and SecureCRT, where there would be tabs for both clients in the same window. Would your preference be to have something like that or to keep SecureFX in a separate window, but add support for tabs?

Sorry to hijack the posting but I wanted to throw my $0.02 in before I forgot about it. Personally I would love to see a full integration with SCRT and SFX tabs in the same window. I use SCRT much more often than I do the file transfer, so having it in the same window would be very quick and easy, and just makes sense. I can see the benifit of having FX using tabs as well. This would be espcially true for those people who use file transfer more often than I do currently. Is it a one or the other option due to the work involved?

Thanks for the feedback. It's not necessarily an either/or proposition, but we have a fairly small development group and it's helpful to know what our customers would like for us to focus on.

Thanks for the reply.

Regarding the tabs it would be nice to have the option to integrate securefx and securecrt or not. I'm not sure exactly how this integration would be, but i got a very long list of hosts in securecrt and a short list in securefx which is not the same hosts so for me the integration would maybe not be so useful unless i could use the same window with different connection list for securefx and securecrt. The integration that is available in the beta versions by using the same list of hosts in both securecrt and securefx is a feature i don't use since those connection lists is completely different in my case.

btw during the reinstallation of my PC i did choose to not integrate, but did it anyway and the only way i managed to change one of them, but not both is to edit the registry.

ssl would be a nice feature i think. That way i could finally use just a single ftp client to support all my connections.

Cheers

Although SecureCRT and SecureFX aren't sharing a window, we have made a change so that you can optionally view only the sessions that are configured for the current client in the Connect dialog.

If I understood correctly, you answered "No" when asked about integrating and the clients got integrated anyway. Is that right?

This is under consideration for a future version of SecureFX.

That's correct. I installed SecureCRT first and then SecureFX (new PC so no previous versions installed). When installing securefx i did chose "No" to integrate, but it did it anyway. Also when i change the config folder path in one of the applications it's changed for both so had to do it in registry to make the change for securefx only and not both securecrt and securefx. The integrated value is set to 0 in registry.

Support for FTP over SSL (TLS) has been added to SecureFX 4.0, which is in pre-beta testing. If you are interested in trying it, please send e-mail to me at Maureen.Jett@vandyke.com.
