Keyword List Regex

First of all, AMAZING feature. SO glad this was implemented!

Having trouble sorting the regex out. Same kind of regex that works in notepad++ not working in Keyword list.
i.e.
SIP\/2.0\s200\sOK

SecureCRT tells me regular expression cannot contain spaces.

Ideas?

Hi multipl3x,

Thanks for the post. I am glad to hear that you are happy with having regular expression support with keyword highlighting.

The option to use spaces is not yet supported.

Would you provide example output and the string you are trying to match with that expression?

What is your goal?

That's kind of what I figured. Give us an inch and we want a mile right?

Anyway, commonly I debug SIP and so I see just a ton of output similar to the following:

Sent:
SIP/2.0 200 OK
Via: SIP/2.0/UDP 123.123.123.123:5060;branch=z9hG4bK+ac7e6751b541661f25734ae074b20f891+sip+1+a6d59445
From: <sip:123.123.123.123:5060;lr>;tag=sip+1+740f000d+2294c0bd
To: sip:123.123.123.123:5060;tag=9E38C-9B1
Date: Fri, 15 Mar 2002 21:51:03 GMT
Call-ID: 47FECA69-1@123.123.123.123:5060
Server: Cisco-SIPGateway/IOS-12.x
CSeq: 820060430 OPTIONS
Allow: INVITE, OPTIONS, BYE, CANCEL, ACK, PRACK, UPDATE, REFER, SUBSCRIBE, NOTIFY, INFO, REGISTER
Allow-Events: telephone-event
Accept: application/
SIP-IN-PRI-OUT#sdp
Supported: 100rel,timer,resource-priority,replaces,sdp-anat
Content-Type: application/sdp
Content-Length: 172

This flies by pretty fast so when I stop the debug it is VERY handy to be able to have a bright neon green "SIP/2.0 200 OK" or a big red "SIP/2.0 403 Forbidden" staring at me so I can easily trace the flow amongst all the information. Allowing to match on a specific regex with spaces allows me to highlight exactly the string I need, without having other instances of say "SIP" or "OK" show up colored in my terminal. Does that make sense?

Thanks for the consideration!

I don't know. When I first tested the new feature, the first thing I tried was \s, and when that didn't work, I tried other ways to try and capture a phrase rather than a word. I think that it is a common expectation.

I see your point. Multiple keywords definitions to capture a single phrase could create false positives.

I have created a feature request to add the ability to search for a phrase rather than a word. Should we add this feature to a future release, we will post to this thread.

If you would like to be notified directly, please complete and submit the form at the following location:
Submit Feature Request
In the meantime, my best suggestion would be to use multiple keywords. The keyword list is a session specific setting, so perhaps you could only use the "SIP" keyword list for sessions where you will be debugging SIP.

Agreed... it's nice to be able to flip to a keyword spec'ed solely for debugging.

Does the attached keyword file help you out (just copy the .ini file to you keyword folder). It doesn't highlight the entire line like you want, however it limits the use of green/red so that you eyes will quickly be drawn to whenever green/red does happen to pop up.

* I had to ZIP the ini file because you can't upload INI files directly to the forum.

The ability to use spaces in keywords (including regular expressions) has been added to SecureCRT 8.7, which is currently in beta testing. It can be downloaded here.
