anti-idle feature...

I need some idea of what characters to send when using hte anti-idle feature. It can not be something that is written to the terminal screen or make sounds. I also don't want to see new command prompt repeatly. I want it to be something that work like PuTTy (freeware terminal software) that is able to maintain it's connection without displaying anything on the terminal screen as well as without making any sounds and yet the command prompt look as it is left intact.
