VCP shows support for a subsystem that isn't there

So, I'm connecting to an old system, trying to figure out why SCP isn't working with the major Windoze apps ... WinSCP, SecureFX, vcp etc, but works just fine from any Linux flavor I can find.

When testing with VCP (just grabbed from the site, x64), I see this in the verbose logging:
Quote:
[LOCAL] : CAP : Remote can do SFTP version 4
There is no SFTP server subsystem on this box ... how is it determining this ability?

On a side note, I have the answer to my initial question which led me to this finding, but I'd rather not post it for general consumption.

So, let me know.

Thanks!

Hi Tom,

Interesting question. Any line preceded by "CAP" is a best guess based in the identity string sent by the client/server. It sounds like the guess was wrong in this instance.
