SecureCRT Not Remembering Agent Key File

I cannot remember if this is expected behavior or not. In "Manage Agent Keys", SecureCRT doesn't remember the location of my identity file when it is closed. If I open Secure CRT and select the identity file, then close SecureCRT and re-open it, SecureCRT does not remember the identity file I point to.

I am using the beta version:
Version 8.6.0 (x64 build 1952) - Internal Build - May 29th, 2019.

Hi Reno,

Agent keys are kept in shared memory location that is cleared as soon as the application is closed (as long as another VanDyke application is not still running).

Can you tell me about the problem that you are trying to solve?

Are you trying to configure SecureCRT with a new PublicKey?

If possible, I'd really love to not have to point to the public key file every time I open CRT.

For example, if you use Pageant to manage keys, it remembers the keys and only only have to enter the pass phrases when opening Pageant.

Hi Reno,

The "Manage Agent Keys" tool simply allows you to manage which keys are added to the agent for forwarding purposes, it is not the appropriate method for configuring a key in SecureCRT.

Public-key Authentication is configured either in Session Options (if you are using different public-keys for all of your remote hosts) or in Global Options (if you are using the same public-key to connect to all of your remote hosts).

Please refer to the following graphic depicting the steps to configure a public-key for a session:

You will need to point to the key that you would like used for the session in the "Use identity or certificate file" field.

Are you able to configure your public-key provided this information?
