I wanted to post a quick update regarding support for SecureCRT/SecureFX on the Ubuntu 20.4 platform.

There are currently no plans to make 8.7.x supported on the Ubuntu 20.4 platform, although a known workaround exists that may help you get v8.7.x working on Ubuntu 20.

That being said, initial support for Ubuntu 20.04 is available in our alpha/development version of SecureCRT and SecureFX. We don't yet have any ETA for when this newer version may become an official (non-beta) public release, but we are happy to make the pre-release version available to you in case you are interested in trying it out.

If you are interested in trying out the pre-release version of SecureCRT or SecureCRT/FX bundle, you should be aware of the following caveats:
  1. This pre-release build will expire in less than 90 days
  2. This pre-release build may expire in 30 days if your license isn't eligible for registration of any newer versions (e.g. if your license is older than 1 year or 3 years, if you have a 3-year license); also understand that even if your license is eligible to register this pre-release version, there is no guarantee that it will still be eligible to register the next *official* (non-beta) release if its release date occurs after your license eligibility period has expired.
If you wish to test out the pre-release version on Ubuntu 20.04, please send an email to support@vandyke.com with "Ubuntu 20.04 Pre-Release (Forum Thread #14156)" as the subject.

If you are not sending the email from the email address associated with your download account, please include that email address in the body of the email as that is how we make pre-release builds available.

Support for Ubuntu 20.04 is planned for inclusion in SecureCRT version 9.0, which is currently slated for official public release some time before the end of 2020.

If you would like to be notified by email when any newer version of SecureCRT becomes available, you can subscribe to our product announcement mailing list:
