Updated USB flash drive config?

I've used SecureFX 2.x and SecureCRT 4.x on a USB flash drive, but getting the new versions to play nice has been problematic. For one thing, they don't 'see' each other, and for another, it copies my settings to the local drive each time. Yes, I'm using the "/F" switch from before, but that doesn't seem to help.

The guide on the website is for the old versions. Any plans to update this?

Thanks,
Doug

Doug,

Here are a few things that may help you get SecureCRT and SecureFX to see each other.

- Install both SecureCRT and SecureFX into the same folder on the USB flash drive.
- Make sure they use the same config folder and that it's on the USB drive.
- Make sure that the /F command-line argument is using the config location on the USB drive.
- Run both applications one time and exit. After this, they should see each other.

Please let me know if they're still not working correctly or if data is being written to the local drive.

Maureen

Install?

To make sure I do this correctly, I run the installers for both programs?

In the past, I copied the folders from the C:\Program Files\... to the flash drive.

Thanks,
Doug

That did it

Installing the apps onto the flash drive, into the same folder, seemed to do the trick. Thank you!

... the only issue I have left is the name of the .lic file for SecureFX. I've tried "SecureFX.lic", but that doesn't seem to work.

Without revealing any of your license information, can you tell me exactly what process you used to create the SecureFX.lic file?

Did you use the same format as used in the SecureCRT.lic file?

Would you be willing to send the files to me at Support@vandyke.comto verify that the format is correct? If so, then please use a subject line of:

SecureFX.lic

I used the same format as the SecureCRT.lic file:

Name=MY NAME
Company=COMPANY NAME
Serial Number=XX-XX-XXXXXX
Key=XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX
Issue Date=XX-XX-XXXX

The file is on the way.

Red face Oops!

It helps to put the correct license information into the file.

If SecureFX finds a SecureCRT license in the SecureFX.lic file, it makes sense that it doesn't work

Thank you for your help!
