Hi Folks,
Anyone know what to do about these strange characters when reading man pages? Look at the OPTIONS section in the attached screen capture. Is there a specific charset I need to set in SecureCRT config or something? Thanks for any ideas. Thanks!

Set your LANG environment variable to C.
LANG=C export LANG |

Hi kencl,
Thanks for the question. You can find a FAQ about this at the following location: http://www.vandyke.com/products/securecrt/faq/016.htmlIf you're currently connected to the remote machine and viewing a man page with those strange characters, open Options -> Session Options..., choose the Terminal -> Appearance category, and set the Character encoding to UTF-8. Press OK to save your settings, and then type Ctrl+L to cause a remote redraw/refresh and the strange characters should be gone. Does this help to resolve the issue? |
