RSA SecurID Software Token

I just installed RSA's SecurID Software Token and am wondering if there's a way to copy the token from the token window and enter it as my password.

I already know how to copy and enter from the clipboard, so that's not a problem. The trick is getting the token from the token window. There are two ways to manually copy the token:
1. Use the "Copy" button provided by the app.
2. Use Ctrl+C while in the token window (no need to select the token text).

So I guess my question is, how do I go to another window and copy text to the clipboard?

Thanks,
Bob

It sounds like you already know two ways to copy to the Clipboard, but that you're possibly experiencing a problem due to some other window having focus. It's not entirely clear to me what's happening, where the problem is, or where VanDyke products fit into the question. Can you provide a little more information about what you're trying to do so that we can see where VanDyke products fit into your question about copying SecurID tokens from a token window?

I should have said, I know how to retrieve text FROM the clipboard and send the text to the host in a session. What I don't know how to do is copy text TO the clipboard from another window. In other words, how do I do this in a script:
1. Switch to another application.
2. Copy text from that application to the clipboard.
3. Switch back to SecureCRT.
4. Send the text from the clipboard to the host in a session.

I know how to do step 4; it's steps 1-3 that I don't know how to do.

Thanks,
Bob

Thanks Bob,

If RSA's SecurID Software Token has a COM object available, that will be the ideal way for you to copy the data. It would be more direct than the alternative. The alternative is to drive the Windows user interface (UI).

If you need to drive the UI, you could use a WScript Shell object. Have you considered using the WScript Shell object to get the data you're after? The AppActivate function and SendKeys function should do what you're needing.

You can find information about the WScript Shell object in Microsoft's Technet VBScript.
