Window size changes

Hello, I am using SecureCRT 7.02 (Build 407).

When i open some tabs with sessions, they change their logical rows/columns to 40/80, no matter what i setup in the respective session properties. It also differs from the settings in the first tab. If i have "on resize, synchronize view to size", the whole CRT window will change size, if i have auto save options on, the session options of the first tab will be modified and the window will keep its size after restart.

I think it might have to do with the shells inside of the tabs. For instance, if i set all used tabs to virtual rows/columns 40/136, save the settings and restart SecureCRT, the rows/columns as indicated in the status bar will show 40/136 for all tabs during login. But after all logins are done and the tabs have a green tickmark to indicate they are connected, the rows/columns change to 40/80.

This happens after i modified all sessions to use screen, change some of their bashrc (but i don't recall any row/column setting there) and made a localshell window the first tab (by using the default sessions option in the preferences).

Can you hint me to what setting may be responsible to get remote shell settings and apply them to the local session?

Other than that, i am happy: the window opens with all remote shells, if i resize the SecureCRT window, the tabs change their appearance and the usable columns reflect that of the SecureCRT window size (i.e. 136 columns). So, we are talking about an inconvience at the moment, all i have to do is wait until SecureCRT is loaded and logins are done, then drag the window borders larger.

Hello cduerr,

It seems you have covered all the bases. I would just like to verify a few items.

Did you see different behavior in an earlier version of SecureCRT/Mac? Or has this always been the behavior?

If applicable, is the behavior the same using SecureCRT/Windows?

Is Enable 80/132 column switching enabled in the Terminal / Emulation / Modes category of SecureCRT's Session Options?

Hello, i am unable to confirm the behavior to be the same or not. The changes happened at the same time when i also upgraded to Build 407.

The column switching is enabled.

Hello cduerr,

If you disable Enable 80/132 column switching, is the behavior the same?

i had to do it for all sessions that i load (not only the first), but after that, the behavior is what i want. Cool.

Disable 80/132 columns switching in the session options.

Thanks a lot!

Hello cduerr,

Thanks for the update.

Hopefully you made the change to all sessions via Default Session per the tip here instead of manually.

You seem to know the product well enough, but it never hurts to have another post with the information out here in the forums.
