Problem with accelerator table in custom menu

I am trying to hotkey common functions in a custom menu. Mainly for cloning the current tab. I am having an issue trying to do that because all of the examples use the Windows Virtual Key and I cannot seem to get it to work using any combination that does not use the Windows Virtual Key.

Working example:

ACCELERATOR
"Clone Session", "C", "VIRTKEY | ALT

MENUITEM "Clone Session", "MENU_TAB_CLONE", ,"Clone Session" ,"Clone Session"

Not working example using CTRL:

ACCELERATOR
"Clone Session", "C", "CTRL | ALT

MENUITEM "Clone Session", "MENU_TAB_CLONE", ,"Clone Session" ,"Clone Session"

What am I missing here ? I know it has to be simple.

Thanks

Hi cr1275,

Thanks for the question. "VIRTKEY" is required for all accelerator modifier keys (Ctrl, Alt, Shift) in a custom menu.

For example, the following should work:
"Clone Session", "C", "VIRTKEY | CTRL | ALT"
I have created a feature request to improve the documentation of "VIRTKEY". We will post to this thread if a future release of SecureCRT has improved documentation.

If you would like to be notified directly, please complete and submit the form at the following location:

Thanks for the reply.

However, I would like to request a way to use other keys instead of the Windows Virtual Key.

Reason:

All keyboards in the world are not the same. Many keyboards do not have the Windows Virtual Key.

Adding the ability to use other keys may be a good thing to maintain compatability ?

Thanks

Hi cr1275,

I am not sure that I understand your objection. VIRTKEY does not refer to a specific key on the keyboard. It is a keyword that is used to identify a key or key combination that is used to modify another key.

In the following example, SecureCRT will honor Ctrl+Alt+C to clone a session:
"Clone Session", "C", "VIRTKEY | CTRL | ALT"
Does this help to clarify why and how VIRTKEY is used?

Thanks, that explains it much better. I was assuming VIRTKEY was the Windows Key which was obviously wrong.

Thanks Lots
