Have a plan to provide a personal free version?

I know this is a brusque question, sorry about that.

You know, for personal developers/students/amateurs, we are hard to pay for your price. I'm switching XShell&XFtp to SecureCRT&FX recently, because yours are cross-platformed.

I very much hope you to provide a personal free version.

Hi Ethson Liu,

We do not offer a freeware version because we feel SecureCRT provides plenty value for the price. (A price which, by the way, has not changed in over 10 years.)

I'll agree with that.

While most companies have gone with an annoying yearly subscription model, for the low price of CRT you can continue to use it after your time period runs out (you just can't update any further). You can use it at work or home (multiple PC's) as long as only 1 copy under your license is in use at any one time. Also, you can trial it before you buy.

Say, you just bought 20 license for a team. Then 2 years later, you can't get the budget to fund it again. That doesn't mean you get cut off completely from using CRT. It can still be used at the last version from before your time period ran out.

That's a lot of good stuff and much better than what most other software vendors are doing now. I'm extremely happy with what VanDyke is doing here.
