PC: How to map ALT+E to "Connect"

I use a mac and pc back forth every day; And thus I'd like to bind "Connect" to Alt-E (since its cmd-e on the mac);
I'm running securecrt 7.3.7, on win7 x64;
I copied defult.mnu, renamed it to mydefault.mnu, changed the "custom menu and toolbar file" to point to mine.

I changed:
ACCELERATOR
"Connect", "E", "VIRTKEY | ALT"

but when I press alt-e I just get a beep. I then tried changing the "Edit" menu name from "Edit" to "Bedit" just so it also wasnt mapped to ALt-E, but no luck.

Is there any way to do this mapping?
tks

Hi jimnh,

Menu customization is not yet supported on the Mac OS. And I am not sure you could accomplish your objective even it was. Alt+e invokes a certain state on Mac OS, it means the next character typed will be accented with the acute accent (). So I am not sure how you would disable the combination from providing the accent. You might want to speak to Apple about that.

However, I have added this thread to a feature request in our product enhancement database to allow customization of the toolbar on Mac OS X (menu). Should a future release of SecureCRT include this feature, notification will be posted here.

If you prefer direct email notification, send an email to support@vandyke.com and include "Feature Request - Forum Thread #12267" in the subject line or use this form from the support page of our website.

Hi Brenda,
It was actually the PC side I want to make the change to; I wanted to bind alt-e to be connect (rather than alt-c).

What I've found that is if I open securecrt on the pc(with my mnu file), and have no tabs open, then alt-e just beeps. If I have an open session then alt-e brings up connect like I want...

So is there something else I can do to get alt-e to bring up connect when no sessions are open?
tks
-jim

Hi jimnh,

Thanks for the clarification. You can just use Terminal / Emulation / Mapped Keys category then.
  • Choose Map a Key... button
  • Press the combination desired (Alt+E)
  • Set Function to Menu Function
  • Set Menu Function to MENU_CONNECT
To have the keymap available in all sessions, you would need to apply that keymap configuration via Default Session mechanism.

Or, alternatively, you can create a keymap *file* via Keymap Editor (the keyboard icon on the toolbar) and configure it to be global.
