Script with python

Hello eveyone,

I have a project in which i have to make a python script that Compare all the router/switch configs against a baseline (standard secured configruration) and gives alert if there any violation of the baseline config.

Please help me.

Hi Anas,

I can point you to examples we have for saving the config here. Perhaps others in the community can help with the "comparing to baseline" part of the task.

There are several tools out there that can do a simple file compare. No two configs will ever be exactly alike due to IP addresses, certificate/hashes, hostnames, etc.

Solarwinds makes some nice tools that may interest you. IE: http://www.solarwinds.com/engineers-...config-compare

Once you have the config validated to be inline with your baseline, you can setup a syslog server to alert you whenever the config is changed.

Trying to write your own script to do this seems nuts.

Thx Casey, but my manager wants a pyhton script, so the comparison will be in some security configs not the config in general (ip,vlan ... will not be compared)
