Cannot change SSH password
I have been using SecureCRT and have many, many sessions saved. Most of them first connect to a local SSH server. My password changed recently, and now every time I connect, it says that my password is wrong, and I have to re-enter it. The box to "Save Password" is checked, but it never actually saves it.
I have gone to the session options, under the SSH2 sub option. I have tried to change the password under the "Password" and "Keyboard Interactive" Authentication section, but both are grayed out. I have pasted the trace below. After the first failure, i enter my new password and ask it to save the new password, however, it doesn't and I have to go through the same exercise every time. Hello robgonz,
Is 'Use Keychain' enabled in the 'Terminal / Advanced' category of SecureCRT's Global Options? If it is, and you disable it, then go through the appropriate steps to change and/or save the new password, what are the results?

Instead of disabling keychain in SecureCRT, I went into my 'Keychain Access' under my mac utilities and updated the password for VanDyke for that particular SSH user and hostname. Now it works like a champ.
Thanks for the help. |

Hello textures2,
I have added this thread to a feature request in our development database for SecureCRT to automatically update keychain when a password is changed. Should a future release of SecureCRT include this feature, notification will be posted here. If you prefer direct e-mail notification, contact support@vandyke.com and include "Feature Request - Forum Thread #6332" in the subject line.

The ability for SecureCRT to automatically update changed passwords in the Mac Keychain has been implemented in a pre-beta version of SecureCRT. If you would be interested in trying it, please send e-mail to me at Maureen.Jett@vandyke.com.
