Please consider making SecureCRT more mac-like in appearance, especially the icons, some of them were copied from the windows version and look very alien on a mac.

Hello vysh,

What version of SecureCRT/Mac are you using?

There are various config options with respect to the toolbar.

Perhaps changing the configuration of yours would provide a more pleasing aesthetic for you.

SecureCRT on Mac OS X has 4 settings you can use for the icons via an option in the Global.ini file. The name of the option and its default setting is:
D:"Toolbar Style"=00000002
Here are the options:
  1. Small classic icons from the Windows version
  2. Larger new icons with text
  3. Small new icons with no text
  4. No icons, just text
NOTE: You must close SecureCRT before making changes to the Global.ini file.

You can find the location of the Global.ini file in the General / Configuration Paths category of the Global Options dialog. (General category for SecureCRT versions prior to v7.2.)

Does configuring a different style for the toolbar suit you better?

If not, I am happy to make the appropriate feature request.

Hello vysh,

What version of SecureCRT are you using?

As of v7.3, we have added Session Manager to SecureCRT/Mac (see attached).

While they are pretty much the same icons, Session Manager can be hidden or undocked. It provides more flexibility.

October 16 is the scheduled date for the official release of v7.3. You can check your upgrade eligibility here.

Also, I have added this thread to feature requests in our product enhancement database for the following:
  • Replace toolbar icons with more modern looking icons in SecureCRT and SecureFX
  • Update icons on Connect and Connect in Tab dialogs to the new Mac icons
  • Ability to customize Connect Dialog and session manager icons

Should a future release of SecureCRT include any of the above features, notification will be posted here.

If you prefer direct email notification, contact support@vandyke.com and include "Feature Request - Forum Thread #5912" in the subject line.

Yes, I am using 7.2 and I'm eligible for upgrade to 7.3,

It's October 17 but 7.3 is yet to be released. Guess I will have to wait for a little longer.

Hi vysh,

Yes, sorry, the release date was delayed by a week.

If you want to try v7.3 beta 5, it is available for download here.

SecureCRT Mac and CAC

Does this version support CAC / PKCS#11?

If so, does it present a dialog box to the user so they may select the correct certificate? Some of my users have six. The old default behavior (on the Windows version) of trying each certificate won't work.

We have a pre-beta version of SecureCRT for Mac with an updated GUI. The changes include a new main toolbar, new icons for the Session Manager and Connect dialog, and new connection status icons.

Please email me at Maureen.Jett@vandyke.com if you'd like to try it.

Maureen

With few exceptions, this Mac version has the same functionality as the Windows version, including advanced session management, strong security, terminal emulation, and automation capabilities. This release also introduces cross-platform scripting with Python and a "Send Binary" file transfer option.

hi frank
I am quite curious about the new version. Unfortunately the link you posted states no beta release to be available.

Regards Frank
