SecureCRT is not saving log

Hi Everyone

I'm using SecureCRT 5.2 and 8.0 (trial) to connect to a PBX station and get some information from it. I am able to connect, send commands and view the result but when I want to save a session log it saves only a part of it, the information that I what to get is not displayed (the result of the main command)

I used both versions to discard a compatibility problem, but both shows same information.

I tried connecting manually and save a log and shows the same information.

Its like the session clears the window or something.

Is it problem of the program or is it the server?

Thank you in advance

Hi oarellan,

It is likely that the remote is sending escape sequences that clear the screen (terminal window). If any line ending character is received, the data should be written to the log file.

What protocol are you using to connect?

The way to see everything the remote sends is to capture a raw log (File menu / Raw Log Session in v8.0.x). Please don't post the raw log in the forums, as it can contain sensitive data. If you want us to look at it, send to support@vandyke.com and include "Attn Brenda - Forum Thread #12414" in the subject line.

Hi Brenda

Thank you for your response.

I'm using SSH2, but I'm connecting to a Jump Server and from it I connect to the PBX, Im not sure if that could be the problem.

I tried with the row log and was successful because I can see that the log shows the information but it shows some weird characters like [15; or [16;
I guess that those characters are the newlines in the window.

Also, the system is like if it shows the information in a window or page. And if I scroll up I can see the banner or the prompt where I send the first commands but not the information that I need, its like it opened a new window, display the info and then close the window, its weird.

Finally, I can´t send the raw log to you due to company policies.

Sorry if my english is not correct, Im yet learning. Greetings from México.

Hi Oswaldo,

Thanks for the clarification.

At that point, you are using the SSH (or Telnet) client provided by the remote system at the Jump Server. It sounds like you are accessing a menued application and it's likely it uses cursor positioning to "clear the screen".

So, what could I do?

Is there an option or something to save the information or its a server bussiness?

Thank you

Hi Oswaldo,

I cannot say for certain without a raw log, but that's likely the case.

You cannot likely do anything to change the behavior of the remote system, nor the SSH client on the Jump Server, but there are resources out there for various emulations (ie: Xterm, VT100) that explain what the escape sequence is to perform the functions that an emulation offers (font coloring, position, etc.).
