Zmodem ZRQINIT

Hi there

I am trying to send a file to a remote host over serial using ZModem. I can successfully receive files from the host using ZModem but when i try to transfer them to the remote end responds with.

Timed out waiting for ZRQINIT

I have tried many times using both command line an GUI methods but always get the same response.

Is there a command string I can manually send to represent ZRQINIT?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi alexc,

What version of SecureCRT are you using?

On what platform/OS?

Hi alexc,

Is this from a Telnet connection?

If so, I think it is this fix in v8.7.x:

Changes in SecureCRT 8.7 (Beta 1) -- November 20, 2019
------------------------------------------------------
Bug fixes:
  • When connected to a Telnet server that did not respond to ZModem binary mode transition requests correctly, the ZModem transfer could fail.
This URL may help you to determine eligibility.

If you are still not sure if your license is valid for v8.7.x, please email support@vandyke.com or orders@vandyke.com and provide the serial number.

Please do not post license info in the public forums.

Hi Brenda

Thanks for the super fast response!

This connection is on a serial interface so not telnet. Shall I continue to try the updated version or will is there something else I can try first?

Thanks

Hi alexc,

I think you should try the new build.

Hi Brenda

Unfortunately the new version did not provide any success. Is there any kind of debugging I can do? The trace did not provide any further information.

Many thanks

Hi alexc,

Thanks for the update.

Please capture trace options output of your serial session and the Xmodem send attempt. Please also include info about the remote (what OS, what Zmodem package, etc.).

Please send to support@vandyke.com as an attachment to your email and reference Attn Brenda - Forum Thread #14227 in the subject line.

Hi alexc,

Please make the following session level INI change:
  • Take note of config folder location in the General / Configuration Paths category of SecureCRT's Global Options

  • Close all instances of SecureCRT and SecureFX

  • Go to config folder location and locate "SessionName".INI in Sessions subfolder (or change Default.ini if an ad hoc connection)

  • Make the following change:
D:"Send Zmodem Init When Upload Starts"=00000000
    to:
D:"Send Zmodem Init When Upload Starts"=00000001
  • Save changes
What are the results?
