Over the course of a year I have to RDP into hundreds of Windows boxes and do work. From these remote Windows boxes I use SecureCRT to SSH into many Cisco routers, switches, and a lot of other devices too. Almost all of them are via SSH. A few via Telnet.
Every week or so I need to transfer files to or from these routers et al. Usually I install an SFTP server on the remote Windows box and hope the firewall won't interfere. This is a huge nuissance and time eater. And some of the devices want to use TFTP or FTP instead of SFTP. Okay, but now I've found "SFTP Session" in SecureCRT properties. This might be exactly what I need. What is this? How do I use this? Can I transfer files between the remote windows box with SecureCRT and these routers? thanks Last edited by VanDyke82nev; 06-18-2019 at 12:32 PM. |

Hi VanDyke82nev,
SecureCRT's Sftp Tab would serve as an SFTP client. So if there were an SFTP server on the devices, yes, that should work. As far as TFTP goes, SecureCRT can play the role of server, so the devices would need a TFTP client.

Thanks for the reply Brenda.
So if the remote router is able to export a file to a remote location I could use the SecureCRT TFTP server. Some of them can export to TFTP. This will be nice to figure out. Would you have a tutorial link handy? I think I searched already and didn't find instructions on how to use it. I just took some guesses and tried it but the transfer failed. I don't supposed it can figure out the IP (on the other side of the NAT) that I should give to the router? thank you |

Hi VanDyke82nev,
Quote:
![]() It would just be an upload from your device/TFTP client *to* the machine where SecureCRT is installed with SecureCRT's TFTP server enabled (ie: put "file"). Quote:
![]() On Windows, ipconfig can be used to determine the IP address of your machine. On Mac/Linux, it will be either ifconfig or ip a.
