Telnet to a router and from it to other multiple routers

Hi There,

I have been trying to find out how to do and script in which I can telnet into a router using crt.Session.Connect and then once I am connected there as terminal server, jump from it to other routers extract some information such as " show inventory", diconnect and keep connecting to another 40+ routers without disconnecting from the terminal server.
Whenever I try to telnet from my terminal server to another router I got the error message:
error:connect:already connected,

thanks

Rodrigo

Hi LT,

Are you using a terminal server, or are you logging into a gateway/firewall server and from that server using telnet to connect with devices behind the firewall?

Let me explain in more details, I am using windows xp as a client and use secure CRT to make a telnet connection to a linux server and from that linux server. From that linux server, it has a direct connection to all of the routers. When everytime I need to perform some tasks on any of the routers, I need to 1) telnet to the linux server. 2) From that server telnet session, make other telnet to the router. 3) perform tasks on the router. But recently, I found out the secure CRT scripting funtion is very good for me to preform the routine tasks such as changing router password and get log. But I can only know how to create the script to telent the linux server, I do not know how to write a script to make 2 telnet sessions. Would you like to help me on that issue?

Hi LT,

If I could see your script, I may be able to make some suggestions that might help you accomplish your scripting goal.

Would you be able to post the script that you are currently using?

Hi Todd,

Thanks for your help. I think I know the answer. I just only need to login to the linux server and run the script from there to telnet the other routers. The script is now working. Thx.

LT

Hi LT,

I am glad to hear that you have resolved the problem.

You should be able to use the script for the entire process, so if you would like to revisit this script in the future, just post it to this thread and we can see if we can offer any pointers to help you get your script working.
