Save custom window layout in SecurCRT

In SecureCRT, is it possible to save the position and size of multiple windows as a "workspace"? For example: On a large monitor, I'll have one large window that takes up the full height of the screen and about half the width. In the remaining space, I've got two windows which each are half-height and the remaining width stacked on top of each other. (Use case is the smaller windows are used to monitor things, I'm working in the larger).

Is there some way to save this setup so that each time I start I don't have to separate open, size, and move all 3 windows?

Hi dkozinn,

Are these separate SecureCRT instances?

How do you open the multiple windows?

Hi Brenda,

This is a single SecureCRT instance. I open the windows/sessions by connecting via Session Manager, clone the session to create two more, then resize and move them.

Hi David,

I can't think of anyway you can accomplish the objective presently in SecureCRT other than the manual way you are doing.

I have added this thread to a feature request in our product enhancement database to have an option to remember each window size and position/state (save SecureCRT workspace). Should a future release of SecureCRT include this feature, notification will be posted here.

If you prefer direct email notification, send an email to support@vandyke.com and include "Feature Request - Forum Thread #13350" in the subject line or use this form from the support page of our website.

Hi David,

As a note, if you don't care if the windows are clones, you can use command-line options to open instances and position as you desire. See the /POS option in the SecureCRT help topic Using the Software / Command-Line Options / Table of Standard Command-Line Options.

That won't help with the window size issue, so I have added this thread to a feature request in our product enhancement database to provide a way to specify rows and columns for a session on the command-line (width, height). Should a future release of SecureCRT include this feature, notification will be posted here.
