Question How to auto save logfile on folder path that contain SecureCRT folder?

Hi all,
I have been searching around for my answer but cannot find it. I have many secureCRT sessions created under unique folders for example: CustomerA, CustomerB, CustomerC and so on. There are many sessions created under each folder so I want to have auto saved log on following folders automatically.

For CustomerA: D:SecureCRT Logs\CustomerA\%S.log
For CustomerB: D:SecureCRT Logs\CustomerB\%S.log
For CustomerB: D:SecureCRT Logs\CustomerC\%S.log

I want to have the logs created automatically under respective folders inside SecureCRT without changing the log path on every sessions. Can this be done? This can save my effort for managing logs.

For example under "log file name" entry, can I use D:SecureCRT Logs\%F\%S.log

the %F is wished to be the CRT folder substitution.

Appreciate for any inputs.

Hi dennyj,

I have good news!

Changes in SecureCRT 8.3 (Beta 1) -- September 21, 2017
-------------------------------------------------------
New features:
- Added a substitution parameter %F that can be used to specify the session's subfolder in a log filename.

Your example usage seems to be spot on.

Are you able to get the behavior you're looking for using %F?

Hi Eko,
Thanks for the great news. Would you know if I have old version of SecureCRT (6.x), can I purchase upgrade license to the current version?

regards

%F works on first folder under CRT Sessions only

Hi Eko,
I tested on 8.3 and %F substitution works for the first folder level. If I have another folder under it (subfolder), can this be auto generated in saved folder path too?
Having %F is good but having the subfolder inclusion will be better/ perfect.

thanks

Hi dennyj,

%F will provide the full "file path" as seen in the Session Manager. I've included an example that should help demonstrate this. My TestSession is located in CustomerA > Site1 > BldgB.

I then used the following Log file name in Session Options.

Code:
C:\SecureCRT Logs\%F\%S.log
This created a log file named TestSession.log at C:\SecureCRT Logs\CustomerA\Site1\BldgB\TestSession.log

Does this provide the behavior you're looking for?

Information on upgrading an existing SecureCRT license can be found here, just be sure to choose the Upgrades tab.
