New features I'd like to see

There are times when I am working "side by side" on two or three hosts. Using tabbed mode is very convenient, if for no other reason that conserving screen real estate.

Having said that ... there are times when I want to compare files side-by-side from two different hosts. Or I want to easily drag'n'drop text from one host to another.

To that end, I would love to see the following features, in order of preference:
  1. Capability to drag a tabbed session OFF the "primary" SecureCRT window
  2. Capability to drag a second SecureCRT window on to a primary SecureCRT window that would merge the two into a tabbed view.
  3. Capability to provide an MDI-like interface that permits one or multiple tabs to be viewed simultaneously within the controlling SecureCRT window.

Hello zitz.

Thank you for your feature requests. I have created three
entries for you in our feature request database. We will
post something on the forums, should a version of SecureCRT
become available with any of the functionality you are
asking for. If you would like us to contact you via e-mail,
please send a message to us at support@vandyke.com
referencing this forum thread.

Thank you

JJH

This has been implemented in SecureCRT 6.0, which is in pre-beta testing. Currently, the following is supported.
  • Clone a session in a new window.
  • Send a tabbed session to a new window.
  • Drag and drop tabbed sessions between SecureCRT windows.

If you'd like to try it, please send e-mail to me at Maureen.Jett@vandyke.com.

Maureen

Item #3 has been implemented in a beta version of SecureCRT. If you'd like to try it, you can download the beta installer from the following web page:
