Lightbulb Need SecureFX Cache History

Hello ,

I just thought of an idea, I'd like to be able to have a cache history, especially when viewing a files directly from a server via securefx.

Last night I spent about 8 hours working on code and I have a very very bad habit of working on code directly on the server, saving and it prompts me to re-upload, etc.

Well long story short, something happened last night and my file I had worked on didn't make it to the server, guessing I was tired and closed out fx before the file when I was going through windows before bed.

Today when I went to work on the file again and I opened fresh from the server as I always do, which obviously overwrote my cache file in my temp dir and about that time I realized my code was as it was before I started yesterday.

Since then I've been looking through docs and settings trying to find either a way to save a copy of every file I edit live or a way to keep a history of temp files, like rename C:\\Temp\whatever.txt to C:\\Temp\whatever.txt.1 etc. One idea would be to limit the amount of memory or number of files, etc.. whatever makes most sense.

I think it would be even better if you could integrate it with some kind of SVN/CVS versioning software, but that might be a bit much to ask lol

Thanks and have a wonderful holiday season!

Best Regards,
- Cecil H.

Hello viguru,

Sorry to hear you lost some of your work - I can see how having local backups would help. You're wanting SecureFX to keep a number of backups of the files it has cached, right?

Depending on the editor you use you may be able to configure it to create backup files for you as well.
