licensing issue
We have licensing for our University and it is for ClientPack 8.3 (but 8.3 is not available to download for Mac). I don't want to keep going back & forth with my licensing department.
Can you let me know how I can install ClientPack 8.3 or use my existing license for ClientPack 8.3 to activate? When I put it in manually, all the checksums are correct but it says "This license is not for this product". Thanks |

Hi taksoy007,
Are you sure your license is for ClientPack? Oftentimes we find customers think the "bundled version" of SecureCRT/SecureFX is ClientPack, but that's not the case. ClientPack is a suite of command-line clients that include vcp, vsftp, etc. Please do not provide the entire serial number, but what are the first two digits? Quote:

This is the email I received
Thank you for selecting the VanDyke ClientPack for Windows, a set a set of command-line utilities for secure automation of file transfer, shell, and public-key administration tasks.
This document contains important license registration information. Please keep it in a safe place. You will need to reenter this information if you reinstall VanDyke ClientPack. ------------ Installation ------------ If you haven't already, download and install VanDyke ClientPack. You can download VanDyke ClientPack 8.3.x (official release) here: https://www.vandyke.com/download/cli.../download.html You can download VanDyke ClientPack 8.5.x (beta release) here: https://www.vandyke.com/download/clientpack/beta.html A Download Account Login page is shown when you attempt to access VanDyke Software installers. You can create a VanDyke Software download account here -- no purchase required: https://secure.vandyke.com/cgi-bin/d...pplication.php VanDyke Software installers are full installs. You don't need to have a previous version installed (nor do you need to remove a previous version) before installing a new version. ------------------------------- License Data Entry Instructions ------------------------------- (1) Copy the entire "block" of your License Data below to the clipboard. (2) Type "vsh --license" at the command prompt. The license wizard will access the clipboard, locate the required license data, and automatically register VanDyke ClientPack for you. All you'll have to do is press the "Finish" button when it's done. When I download VanDyke ClientPack 8.5.x, it does not have vsh --license. -- When I install SecureCRT and put in the license information, it says it is for a different product. Hi taksoy007,
You still didn't address the issue of the installer. ![]() Who/where/what does not have the installer available? It is available on our website. If you choose CLIENTPACK FOR MAC tab, the installers are available as both .pkg and .tar.gz files.

8.5 is but 8.3 is not
8.5 is available. --> I can NOT run vsh --license with this version. It does not recognize --license argument
8.3 is not available for MAC . Therefore, I can't license SecureCRT. Last edited by taksoy007; 03-20-2019 at 01:20 PM. |

Hi taksoy007,
Sorry, I read that wrong. Yes, v8.3 installers are available. On the download page for all of our products, there is some form of the Upgrade Eligibility/Previous Version links as shown below: However, ClientPack licenses are operating system specific. The licenses for Windows will have serial numbers beginning 10-. The licenses for Mac/Linux will have serial numbers beginning 11-. The part of the license letter you posted sounds like you have ClientPack for Windows licenses.

Hi taksoy007,

![]() You can evaluate the current version of either product for 30 days. If you have an appropriate license for product (and OS if applicable), then you can use it. I don't know your "university" and so I don't know anything about their licenses. ![]()
