Map key for new session

Hello

I have a button / script to create a new session.

But i tried to map it to a key sequence in the keymap editor and it didnt work.

Is there a way to map a key for a new session on mac?

Hi rleon,

Do you mean you want to open Quick Connect? Or use New Session Wizard to create a new session?

In what way didn't it work? Did you get an error? The keymap editor is one way to do it, but that means you then have an additional file to keep track of. The method we prefer is embedding the keymaps in the session.
  • Go to Terminal / Emulation / Mapped Keys category in Session Options
  • Press Map a Key... button
  • When the Map Key dialog is shown, press the desired combo on the keyboard
  • From the Map Selected Key dialog, in the Function dropdown, choose Menu Function
  • From the Menu Function dropdown beside it, choose MENU_QUICK_CONNECT (or MENU_CONNECT)
  • OK out of all the dialogs
If you want to apply this keymap to all sessions, you would use Default Session.

Hi rleon,

Do you want to open an existing saved session?

If so, that's not supported at this time.

I have added this thread to a feature request in our product enhancement database to support the ability to map a key to launch a specific session. Should a future release of SecureCRT include this feature, notification will be posted here.

If you prefer direct email notification, send an email to support@vandyke.com and include Feature Request - Forum Thread #14181 in the subject line or use this form from the support page of our website.

Does the button that works run a script? What are your results if you map the key to the same Function as the button?
