Question Automatic Lock SecureCRT

I think I am going crazy, but I distinctly remember a feature in SecureCRT that after a few minutes of inactivity, asks you to reenter the passphrase to access the application. I am only getting this at first login. Can someone point me in the right direction? I cant find how to auto-lock it anywhere. No point having sessions with automatic passwords if there is no lockout timer for the application itself.

SecureCRT hasn't yet provided any kind of auto-lockout feature in relation to its configuration passphrase. The behavior you're seeing right now is exactly as it was originally designed to work.

I've added a feature request on your behalf for an option to automatically time out (expire) the configuration passphrase after a specified time has elapsed. Should a version of SecureCRT become available that does this, we'll post here so you'll know about it. If you'd rather be notified directly by email regarding this feature, feel free to send a request to support@vandyke.com specifically referencing Forum Thread 12615.

I agree with your statement for very specific scenarios.

In general, a security "best practice" is to never save passwords - ever.

In fairness to SecureCRT owners who are currently using the configuration passphrase feature and enjoying the additional measure of protection it provides, it's possible that they are using a more manual approach to keeping things secure, such as a) locking their workstation when they leave or b) closing SecureCRT when they're finished with their work, etc.
