Automatic Lock SecureCRT

I think I am going crazy, but I distinctly remember a feature in SecureCRT that after a few minutes of inactivity, asks you to reenter the passphrase to access the application. I am only getting this at first login. Can someone point me in the right direction? I cant find how to auto-lock it anywhere. No point having sessions with automatic passwords if there is no lockout timer for the application itself.

SecureCRT hasn't yet provided any kind of auto-lockout feature in relation to its configuration passphrase. The behavior you're seeing right now is exactly as it was originally designed to work.

I've added a feature request on your behalf for an option to automatically time out (expire) the configuration passphrase after a specified time has elapsed. Should a version of SecureCRT become available that does this, we'll post here so you'll know about it. I agree with your statement for very specific scenarios.

In general, a security "best practice" is to never save passwords - ever.

In fairness to SecureCRT owners who are currently using the configuration passphrase feature and enjoying the additional measure of protection it provides, it's possible that they are using a more manual approach to keeping things secure, such as a) locking their workstation when they leave or b) closing SecureCRT when they're finished with their work, etc.
