Password protect securecrt?
Hi,
Is there a way to PASSWORD protect the launcging of SecureCRT (vers 6.6 or 7.0) from my desktop? It would add another level of security if I could. Thanks. Tom |

Hi Tom,
This is not currently an option. I have created a feature request to add the ability to password protect SecureCRT/sessions. We will post to this forum thread if we add this feature in a future SecureCRT release. If you would like to be notified directly, please complete and submit the form at the following location: Submit Feature RequestIn the meantime, can you tell me more about the problem you are trying to solve? |

Thanks Todd. I wait for the feature.
Understand that this request is for the launching of SecureCRT from the Desktop... NOT the launching of sessions once you are already in SecureCRT. With 350 systems to access, this would be prohibitively time consuming. Last edited by 10tech; 02-20-2013 at 12:05 PM. |

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the clarification. I have added this to the SecureCRT enhancement database. My expectation was that you wanted it for the whole program, but now I have proof. |

Hi Todd,
What I think would be a great improvement if such startup password was also the passphrase for session files encryption/decryption (e.g. with AES). Currently these files are stored in open text, but they could be properly encrypted. The launch password would not only protect SecureCRT from being started by an unauthorized person, but even accessing information from the SCRT configuration files would become impossible. |

Hi Mushu,
Thanks for the additional suggestion. Again, we will post to this thread if something like this is implemented. |
