Always Transfer Makefile* As ASCII
How do I tell SecureFX that Makefile* should always be an ASCII transfer, and it shouldn't have to ask me every time.
Thanks, Jack |

Hi Jack,
Thanks for your question. You can configure a specific transfer type for a file in the File Transfer / File Types. You will need to find the extension for your file type, and if you don't have one defined, you can just create one. Does this help to answer your question? |

"Makefile" is the full file name, so there is no extension.

Hi Olaf van der Spek,
Thanks for pointing this out. Another option would be to set the Default transfer type: to ASCII rather than Prompt for type. This option can be found in the File Transfer category of the Global Options dialog. Last edited by rtb; 04-18-2013 at 08:02 AM. |

Any other suggestions? Some files do need to transfer as binary.

Hi jstraub,
I have added this thread to a feature request in our product enhancement database for the ability to specify and save a transfer type for files with no extension. Should a future release of SecureFX include this feature, notification will be posted here. If you prefer direct e-mail notification, contact support@vandyke.com and include "Feature Request - Forum Thread #10984" in the subject line.

The ability to specify a transfer type for files without extensions has been added to a pre-beta version of SecureFX. If you would like to try it, please send email to me at Maureen.Jett@vandyke.com.
