Syncing between Windows & Linux

I am using SecureFX to move files from my windows host to a Linux Host. This works as long as I create the Linux session with the File->URL Open function to open the Linux session.

However, once I have both sessions open & have moved files, I can't use the Quick Sync command to verify (compare) the two hosts. Quick Sync doesn't use the open sessions & doesn't provide an Open URL option.

Is there any way around this.

Hi Wwynn,

The quicksync function does currently require the use of a saved session.

Opening a URL from the 'File' menu is only a temporary session.

I have entered a request in our features database to see if the current temporary session in SecureFX could be used when performing a 'Quicksync' to the same remote machine.

If this option it added to a future release, we will make a post here.

If you would prefer to be contact via email, please send me a message referencing this forum thread (2072).

Another option would be to create a session to the Linux machine and use that session when performing the 'QuickSync'. New sessions can be created from the 'Connect' dialog and selecting the third icon from the right ('New Session').

Would this be an option that could work in your environment?

Hi all,

This feature (the ability to use URLs in a QuickSync operation in SFXCL) has been implemented in a pre-release build of SecureFX.

If interested in trying the pre-release build, please send an email to support@vandyke.com with a subject line of SFXCL: URLs in QuickSync feature (or similar).

Since your VanDyke Software download account is how we make pre-release builds available, if your email does not originate from the email address associated with that account, please provide that info in the body of the email.
