Copying port descriptions to txt file

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to python and scripting. Our company has merged with another, and we are changing our cisco switch configs to be like the other companies.

I was given a template and I copied port descriptions and vlan settings, and pasted them into the template. I'll come in on the weekend and load the new configs on the switches.

I'm almost done, but it took forever. Is there a way I could have sped this process up with the help of a script?

If so, how would I go about doing it? What tutorials should I look into.

Hi ClearHorse,

We do have several example scripts here to help you get started. In particular you may be interested in Cisco Save Running/Startup Config to Local File, Run Commands On Multiple Hosts And Log Results, and Paste With Echo Flow Control.

We also have a Scripting Guide available. Although it is geared towards VBScript, many of the SecureCRT specific Objects/Properties/Methods behave the same for Python.

Do these help get you the functionality you're looking for?
