Feature request:

I would like to have the tab echo the prompt that is recieved and to be able to set the number of characters (leading or trailing) that is displayed.

I think most people can see where this would be extremely helpful when working on many systems at one time.

Thanks

Hello BCismar,

First, I assume (hope) your feature request is for SecureCRT, correct?

If so, your feature request could be interpreted a couple ways. I want to be sure I fully understand what you are trying to accomplish.

Are you saying you want the tab name (tab caption) to reflect the current remote shell prompt?

If so, many Unix/Linux systems will send title change requests.

The following are the prerequisites:
  • Xterm emulation configured in the Terminal / Emulation category of Session Options (Note that a disconnect/reconnect is required when changing emulation.)

  • Ignore window title change requests in the Terminal / Emulation / Advanced category of Session Options is *not* enabled

and to be able to set the number of characters (leading or trailing) that is displayed.
And, for the above, are you saying for example, in the case of an extremely long prompt (user@hostname/dir1/dir2), you want to be able to configure ## number of characters from left or right to be displayed if wider than the current tab width?
