vshell - error when signing in with User Database user

I'm using the VShell User Database, instead of Windows users. I cannot get any user signed in.

At signin the log has error:

"The User Database file 'C:\Program Files\VanDyke Software\VShell\userdb.txt' has more permissions than expected. The required permissions are to limit all access to only the System account and Administrator group. Users specified in this database will not be allowed to authenticate."

-- and --

"00098: Username lookup failed for user [redacted]: No mapping between account names and security IDs was done."

userdb.txt file appears to have the appropriate permissions for SYSTEM and Administrators group, with additional read permissions for ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES.

On Windows Server 2019 Datacenter.

Hi zachz,

This issue has been resolved in a recent pre-release build of VShell 4.4.1. If you can send me an email with your download account email address, I can make the build available to you.

Please send an email to support@vandyke.com with "ATTN: Forum Thread#13486", in the subject line.

I continue to have the same issue after uninstalling 4.3.x, installing 4.4.1 and reconfiguring.

Signin has failed all but one time.

Log is back to complaining about userdb.txt permissions, despite continually agreeing to let vshell set the permissions.

Hi zachz,

I responded to your email with the information that you will need to install the version of VShell 4.4.1 that includes the fix (build 1911). The official VShell 4.4.1 installer that you just tested with does not have the fix for this particular bug.
