Launch a script from from the menu bar

Good day.

Is it possible to launch a script from the SecureCRT menu bar?

Code:
POPUPMENU "&ConfD CLI"
	MENUITEM "&Get logs", "RUN", "%APPDATA%\VanDyke\custom_config\scripts\MyAwesomeLogScript.vbs\n"
END
Regards,
Bjoern

Hi Bjoern,

Yes it is, but with just a few lines posted I am not sure you are adding it to the correct area in the .mnu file.

What version of SecureCRT are you using?

Is your "code" under the "main menu portion" of the .mnu file?

// main menu
MENU "[main]"
POPUPMENU ...

I don't think you would want the \n terminator on the path to the script though.

What issue are you having?

Hi Bjoern,

I also don't think you can use a substitution variable here. You will need to enter the full path to AppData instead of %appdata%.

Hello Brenda.

I applied the full path in lieu of %APPDATA% and removed the "\n" as you directed. It works now.

Thank you,

Bjoern

Hi Brenda.

My manager has been asking me what advantage SCRT has over putty and I've mentioned a quite a few.
Would you have a comparison chart comparing the features and advantages of SecureCRT vs, say PuTTY.

Bjoern

Hi Bjoern.

We don't keep a list of the differences between SecureCRT and PuTTY. I'm guessing that the list you have already provided to your manager is a compelling one because you know which features you already know that you like in SecureCRT. PuTTY is free, which can be appealing, but it is the time saving features of SecureCRT that make it stand out.

You already asked about scripting in this thread, which is one of the distinguishing features of SecureCRT because it can be such a time saver. If you think about the time you can save in hourly wages using scripting or buttons and things like that, you can do some simple math to see the point at which SecureCRT can pay for itself. It really depends on how you plan to use the software. If you don't plan to spend much time using the software or you don't see yourself using the advanced features, then free software might be right for you and we certainly understand that.

For a lot of our customers, quick, accurate, quality technical support is essential. Our customers seem to appreciate the kind of technical support they receive from us.

If you would like to share some details about the problems you are trying to solve, perhaps we can offer some suggestions about what is possible with SecureCRT. If this conversation is one that you would rather not have on a public forum, you can feel free to contact us at support@vandyke.com.

Thanks

JJH

Hi jjh

Thank you for your reply, I think my manager will be convinced to continue supporting SCRT.
