how to send anti-idle string

Hi,
i need to send an anti-idle message to some of my switches (telecommunications) so my connection stays up at all times. I found some information in the help menu such as sending an Oct string like /r for a carriege return, but all when the string gets send to the switch it shows as /r or whatever other value i setup in the anti-idle space. If someone could show me the right way to send the string i will appreciated. I am using secureCRT to telnet into the switches.

I believe it should be \r or \015 not /r.

Does that help.
