Window Resizes on Connect
I'm running SecureCRT 7.3.7 on El Capitan.
Whenever I connect to a new session the main window resizes itself - sometime s just a little, sometimes a lot. I tried full-screen and connecting causes the tabs to go out of full-screen mode - which is even more annoying. How can I get the window to stay the same size all of the time when opening and closing sessions? |

Looks like it might be a bug you're seeing. The first tab in SecureCRT should dictate the geometry for all other tabs in the same SecureCRT window, so when you connect to additional/subsequent sessions as tabs in the same window, you shouldn't be seeing the window size change. I haven't been able to replicate the problem in my limited testing, but it's clear that in your case, the session that caused things to change the window size has a different number of rows (43 vs. 57, according to your screen shots).
As a workaround, you could go into full screen mode (using SecureCRT's terminology) by pressing Command+Enter, which will prevent the resizing from taking place as you connect to new tabs/sessions. Another workaround would be to edit all your saved sessions' options at once (and set up for any new sessions you might end up creating) by editing the Global Options -> Default Session so that the terminal rows and columns are 57 and 217, respectively) and apply those changes to all your existing sessions. For more info about this, see the Default session video and/or corresponding web tip. In the mean time, I've created a bug report on your behalf and asked our team to look into it further. They may need to have a copy of some of the files in your SecureCRT configuration folder. Can you send an email to support@vandyke.com with a subject of "ATTN: Forum post 12280", and I'll follow up with you by email? --Jake

Setting the terminal rows and columns in Global session options worked for me. Thanks jdev!

If we get a resolution to the problem that doesn't involve the (often beneficial) overhead of setting all your sessions to the same rows/cols, we'll be sure to post here. --Jake

Hello, I have the same issue with the terminal size. I can solve this issue with the settings in the terminal rows & columns.
But I have a additional Problem. I use Mac OS X el Capitan Version 10.11.4 (15E65) and secureCRT Version 8.0.0 (build 1063) I use the SecureCRT not in full window mode. So there is no Tab open and I do a connection to a device the Window jumps on another direction on my screen. So the first Tab is open all other additional connections I made, the Window stay on position. If I close the connection and close the Tab and open a new connection to a device the Window jumps on another postion again. Mostly to the center position of my screen. And on this position it will be stay, also after close and open a new connection in a new Tab. Remember this behavior takes only with the first Tab it opened. But If i Close all Tabs and open a new, the windows jumps again. I'm new with secureCRT and hope you can help me. And sorry for my english. |
