Use default username in SecureCRT?

I noticed that under Global Options > Default Session > Edit Default Settings... that you can specify a Username.

I tried setting a default Username and then tried setting up a saved session with a blank username thinking that it would use the default, but it didn't seem to work.

I'm trying to share a folder of sessions with other SecureCRT users and we all want to set our own username to login with.

Is this the correct way to accomplish this?

I'm using SecureCRT 7.3.7.

Hi spockdude,

It sounds like you have followed the steps correctly.

See this tip on our website to confirm.

If wanting to apply the change to already existing sessions you have to choose the "Yes, change all sessions" option (this also makes the change to Default session).

Note however:
In order for a "change" to be applied to all other sessions, the Default session's option/field you're targeting must actually be modified/different from its current value. This means that if the targeted field you want to apply to all other sessions is *already* set to the value you want, you must first change it to something *different* (and apply that "change") and then edit the Default session again to set the option to its *desired* value (and apply that "change").
