I'm doing the same thing.

Now, if Dropbox would allow you to mark it "read-only" for everyone BUT me -- that'd be key!

Ok I give up, messing around with windows here, I've been looking for 45 minutes for the location of the session.ini files, at least I think that's what I want to sync via dropbox. I can just barely use windows.

Could someone end my suffering here?

Hi ttroutman,

Thanks for the question. You can determine the location of the configuration folder in the General category of the Global Options Dialog in SecureCRT. You can find the session .ini files in the Sessions folder which is contained in the Config folder.

Does this help to answer your question?

Hey ttroutman,

I am glad I could help. No need to feel stupid. Rather than waste cycles looking for an answer that was eluding you, you asked someone that should have a quick answer. Kudos on efficient cycle use!

Anyone have any ideas on syncing to a group of computers using a internal tool? IE> I have created my own group of vbs scripts to sync but I want something more productized.. dropbox looks great, except it is in the public cloud and I don't want any of my session data leaving my network. Also, all users (30~) would have to share one dropbox account..

I've been playing with unison and a few others but wondering if anyone has successfully used anything..

Each user would have their own dropbox account and you would share the folder with only those users. Of course, the data would still be leaving the network, but if you're sharing it with 30 people it probably is already.

There's only 3 of us that share our session files and we just copy it around if anything major changes. Not terribly efficient. We might try the dropbox idea.

If you're looking for an internal sync not involving the Internet, I suppose you have an internal network of some kind (single site, multi-site?)... You might wanna look into a shared network drive to store these files.
"Map network drive" in windows or "Samba" in Linux.

Keep in mind that the files on the network drive will be unavailable when disconnected from your internal network.
If you do need them while in the field, you can map the network drive on each PC, and run a sync tool such as FreeFileSync from Sourceforge, or other similar software.
This way you'll get the latest version whenever you are connected to your network, but still retain a local cached version if you disconnect and go in the field.
PS: You can also put the files on the network drive as read-only, except for user(s) of your choice..
Cheers,

Dropbox also syncs locally on the LAN.
It will still send it to the "cloud" but it will sync locally first.

From https://www.dropbox.com/help/137

Quote:
"What is LAN sync?
LAN sync is a Dropbox feature that speeds syncing dramatically when the file exists on your Local Area Network (LAN).

What does that mean exactly? Well, when you add a file to your computer's Dropbox, the file is then synced with Dropbox servers. Dropbox will then initiate the syncing process as soon as it determines a change has been made to the file. All linked computers and shared folders will then download any new version of the file. With LAN syncing, Dropbox will look for the new file on your Local Area Network first, bypassing the need to download the file from Dropbox servers, thus speeding up the syncing process considerably.

LAN sync is an extra advantage for use in locations where computers are networked together over the same router or other local area network."

Just an FYI for all of those that do not know.

Dropbox has built in, the ability to sync locally on the LAN.
It still will be sent to the "cloud" storage also, but if you have 4 different people on the Local LAN and they are all accessing the same shared area on dropbox, not the same username, but one user shares it for all users, then the replication will happen locally.
